March in Conclusion

Wow – it’s almost April.

That’s kinda crazy. Where has the year gone? I complain about the drag of school, but I only have two months left. After that is summer. Summer. That lovely season that I love to dream of! I feel like we’re all growing up a bit too quickly.

This post isn’t about depressing things, I promise. It’s about looking back at another wonderful month. And my goodness, what a month it has been! So much has happened and I can’t even begin to say how much fun was mixed in.

(I know that this post is early, but I am going to be driving to the Toronto airport when it is the last day of March, so here I am on the 29th 😀

I’ll start with the very beginning: I switched to WordPress!!!!!!!!!!! I honestly love blogging on WordPress SO much better, so it was definitely the right choice. I think it’s also easier for a lot of people to read my posts (since practically everybody has WordPress and practically nobody has Wix).

My stats have definitely increased since I switched, with an average of 10 views per day and an average of 9 comments and 5 likes per post. I have 81 comments total on my site (including my responses), 17 followers (14 WordPress and 3 email) and 9 posts (now 10). Thanks so much to all of you for supporting me! I love you guys so much 😊

Next on the list is (drumroll) reading/writing! It’s been another fairly good reading month, and another “eh” writing month. I read Macbeth, *cheers* a little more of the Sherlock Holmes Vol. I Stories, and I’ve started Our Mutual Friend. Macbeth was awesome. I read the entire thing with all of the printing errors, olde English, and depressing poetry. It was really good. I did a lot with my dad about Macbeth, since I’m still really behind on English Class – we researched the historicity of the play and GUYS: a lot of Shakespeare’s plays were just dramatized history. Sure, there are the plays that are obviously history, but Macbeth is actually just a magicked up version of a real Scotland story. I wrote it all up in a google doc here if you’re interested in a little history lesson 😀

I’ve already mentioned some stuff about Our Mutual Friend here but I feel like one can never exhaust the topic of a good Charles Dickens book. Guys, it is so well written. SO. WELL. WRITTEN. While it isn’t quite as full of Dickens’ humour as Great Expectations is (which, in my opinion, is the best book ever written), it’s still so amazing. If you’re going to embark on a long, hard book, choose a Dickens. If you can read between the lines a little bit at his humour, you will laugh so hard. For example, there is a couple introduced in the second chapter, Mr. and Mrs. Veneering, who own a “bran-new” everything (house, baby, coat of arms, friends, etc.). If you didn’t know the meaning of Veneering, that wouldn’t be funny. {cover (something) with a decorative layer of fine wood. cover or disguise (someone or something’s true nature) with an attractive appearance.} There you are. Have I proven my point? I could go on and on because I honestly love when things are well written, but I think it’s safe to say that you caught my drift. I’m currently 158 pages (of 753) and 13 chapters in. If I make a good amount of progress on it each week, I could finish it in the foreseeable future.

And when Eugene had observed its position with reference to the other boats, and had made sure that he could not miss it, he turned his eyes upon the building where, as he had been told, the lonely girl with the dark hair sat by the fire.

This morning I was awoken at 5:30-ish in the morning. At first, I was a bit annoyed because I was allowed to sleep in today, but as I lay trying to fall back asleep, my tired brain figured out the reason for my waking – and, like everything else I say, there’s a story behind it. A few springs ago, a single robin sat on the railings of our front steps and started chirping. It chirped so loud that it woke up my dad. The robin came back the next day – and the next, and the next, and every day until fall came. Nearly every morning one of us would wake up to the sound of this robin. Every year the robin comes back in the spring. This morning, I woke up to the sound of the robin!!!!!! That means that spring is finally here – I don’t go by the groundhog’s prediction, I go by the robin 😀

Spring means warmer weather, Easter, and life – spring means that school will soon be over and summer will soon come – spring means baseball and Spain – GUYS IT’S SPRING! I don’t think I could emphasize enough how excited I am. It’s spring. And speaking of time flying, The Incredibles 2 is coming out in June and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald is coming out in November!!!!!!! I’m looking forward to those movies very much 😀

Just one more thing that I’m super excited about – I have mostly gotten over my little cold! Yesterday I stayed home with an awful sore throat and super plugged sinuses, but I’m so happy to say that I woke up this morning feeling SO much better. My sister, however, has become sick as well so it would be lovely if you could pray for her and all of the other people that are getting sick right now.

Other news/things I forgot to mention:

• Lizzie turned 12 on Tuesday and I got her 4 little fish 😀 She hasn’t named them all yet, but I’ll update when she does 😊 (sorry for the bad picture)

 

• My mom made Streusel Cake Coffee this morning!!!! *flails* it doesn’t matter that I’ve already had a cup of coffee, I can totally deal with this amount of energy. Not.
• There are actual flowers blooming outside. ACTUAL FLOWERS. *more flailing*
• It’s almost Easter!!!! I hope you guys have a nice weekend and break (if you have one)
• My succulent friends are all doing quite well (John, Sherlock, Molly, Greg, the dead one named Moriarty, and my aloe plant George), with the exception that I may have accidentally knocked a few leaves off of Greg. Sorry, Greg!
